NCLB - District Report Card - 2009-2010

Inclement Weather Procedures

                           December 2009
Dear Parents:

I am writing to let you know the procedures that will be followed in the event weather conditions or other situations require adjustment of school and busing schedules.

SCHOOL CANCELLATION. In situations where safety may be in jeopardy for an extended period, school will be cancelled for the entire day.  Announcements will be made on radio and television stations, see page 2 for a listing of stations. Information will also be posted on the SAU and individual school websites. Notifications will be sent using the AlertNow system for districts using this service.

SCHOOL OPENING. In other situations, school opening may be delayed by two hours (this allows weather to improve and allows time for early morning snow removal and ice control to take effect). Announcements will be made on radio and television stations, see page 2 for a listing of stations. Information will also be posted on the SAU and individual school websites. Notifications will be sent using the AlertNow system for districts using this service.

If there is a two hour delay,
·         Morning preschool in all districts will be cancelled.  Afternoon preschool will be held. Afternoon preschool buses will operate on a normal day schedule.
·         Kindergarten programs are as follows:
* Hampton – kindergarten is an all day program and students should follow the instructions for a two hour delay.
* Hampton Falls - Morning kindergarten will be cancelled.
* North Hampton - Morning kindergarten will be cancelled on Tuesday-Thursday. However, if the delay is on a Monday or Friday when kindergarten is in session all day, kindergarten students should follow the instructions for a two hour delay.
* Seabrook - Morning kindergarten will be cancelled.
* South Hampton – Kindergarten classes will be cancelled.
·         Afternoon kindergarten will be held. Afternoon kindergarten buses will operate on a normal day schedule.
·         All other students should be at bus stops two hours later than usual. Walkers should arrive at school two hours after their normal time.
·         The “Y” Before School programs in Hampton will be cancelled.
·         Hot lunches will be served in all schools having school lunch programs.

EARLY DISMISSAL. Occasionally it may be necessary to dismiss school early. Such a decision will normally be made by late morning. Television and radio announcements will be made.
            In case of early closing,
·         There will be no afternoon kindergarten or preschool.
·         All after school activities will be cancelled.
·         The “Y” After School programs in Hampton, and North Hampton will be cancelled.
·         The following schedule will apply:

EARLY CLOSING: Parents, particularly parents of younger children, should make arrangements in advance for the care of their children in the event of an early school closing. If parents wish to be contacted by the school, they must let the principal know in writing in advance.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

                                                                                    Sincerely,
